Some Flaws of zonealarm Firewall
CHECK POINT HAS released a new version of its popular free ZoneAlarm firewall which is now Windows Vistacompatible. The main advantage of this firewall over Vista’s built-in version is the easy control you gain over what programs can access the Internet. It tells you when a new program attempts to gain access to the Internet, and it blocks ac cess until you say otherwise. But as in the older version, the many alert pop-ups may not help. Outbound connection alerts can block malware that evades your anti virus software and tries to send data stolen from you to a Web repository (for example), but you need to know whether an alert is for a valid program or for malware. Alerts about oddly named programs running from a temp directory should set off warning bells, but telling the be nign from the evil can be hard otherwise. And if you block the wrong thing, some programs may not work correctly.
